Olive pomace oil is taken from the olive pulp after the first press. Pomace oil is a lesser grade and quality than olive oil due to the way it is extracted, however, is still produced from 100% olives.
Pomace oil has a lower cost due to the lower grade and is significantly cheaper than olive oil.
Olive pomace oil used in food manufacturing is refined to create a light colour and consistent flavour. For food manufacturers this can be used as a healthy alternative to soybean oil – it is healthier, well regarded and still has a light colour and flavour to make it a simple substitute.
